URGENT NEED FOR ASSISTANCE - CESSMAQ

This year, CESSMAQ has identified a need that will require a lot of prayer, personal commitment and the financial support from all who are willing and capable of assisting. The village of Candelaria, approximately 6 kilometers north of La Cumbre , has 104 church going Mayan men, women, and children. At the present time, unfortunately there is no church for them to go to. A call has been received from CESSMAQ to build them a church, a humble structure not much bigger than a three car garage is in the planning stages. The congregation has been able to secure the property on their own. A team of 15 has been formed to travel to this remote village in Guatemala to start this work. Dates for the trip are 4 – 11 July 2009. A list of items that need to be purchased for this project has been created and posted to the GPT web site (http://www.cessmaq.org/). A sampling of that list is below.

The Guatemala Partnership Team humbly comes to you for your prayers and financial assistance of any amount. The initial cost estimate is approximately $29,000.00 and in the scope of all things this is a meager amount that promises a huge return on the investment. The word of God will continue to be spread throughout this region of Guatemala, and our Mayan brothers and sisters will have a church home (Divino Libertad) to attend. Each item financed by you brings this dream closer to fruition. May God bless you and provide for your needs and where possible allow you to provide for the needs of others.

HERE'S A SUGGESTION FOR YOUR CHURCH; A MISSION PROGRAM THAT HITS THE SPOT

First Presbyterian Church, Austin reports an enthusiastic respose to "The light of Congo" show available to churches in our Presbytery. Randy Kerr (professional photographer) and Rev. Don Bobb (retired missionary) have produced an educational and motivational program with recent slides taken in Congo. With up to date statistics and highlighting of needs, we were alerted to the opportunity to make a real difference through the Congo committee of Presbytery. I would think that all congregations would get a boost from this program. June Rodgers, Elder. j.rodgers@pobox.com
